Donate to the shelter

Donations are important to the shelter, not only from a practical standpoint, but more importantly, for the relationships they foster. Donations typically come from residents, boy/girl scout troops, youth groups, etc. and donors derive great satisfaction, knowing they are helping a worthy cause. Donations also present an opportunity for the public to visit the shelter, tour the facility and see the animals that directly benefit from their generosity.

Donors often leave with a lasting impression that encourages future visits and potential adoptions. In addition, when offered by youth groups, a staff guided tour of the facility typically follows. This presents a “teachable moment” for humane education and the chance to instill the importance of responsible pet ownership in our children.

The shelter supervisor or designated staff have the authority to manage donations as outlined in this procedure and with the approval of the town board when required. Once accepted, the donations become the property of the town, which retains the right to use the donations as it sees fit, unless another arrangement has been made with the donor.

Donations typically include, but are not limited to:

  • Cat and Dog Beds

  • Toys

  • Towels

  • Baby Blankets

  • Nylabones X-Large

  • Scratching Posts

  • Air-Tight Food Containers

  • Heating Pads
